On Thursday, the Conference Board released a report indicating a surprising rise in the leading U.S. economic indicators for the first time in two years, as of February.
The report indicated that the Board's leading economic index had subtly increased by 0.1 percent in February, contrary to the 0.4 percent decrease it experienced in January. This was in opposition to economists' predictions of an index fall by 0.3 percent.
This unexpected increase in February 2022 marked the first rise in the leading economic index since the same month in 2020.
The report also highlighted the coincident economic index's rise by 0.2 percent after a slight increase of 0.1 percent in the previous month. Moreover, the lagging economic index had also escalated by 0.3 percent, mirroring the increase observed in the prior month.
