Tela Bio, Inc. (TELA) announced their introduction of Liquifix FIX8 Laparoscopic and Liquifix Precision Open Hernia Mesh Fixation Devices to the U.S. market on Thursday. These innovative devices were developed by the U.K.'s Advanced Medical Solutions Ltd. and have the unique distinction of being the only FDA-approved devices to secure mesh and approximate peritoneal tissue using liquid anchors.
Liquifix FIX8 is mainly designed for less invasive procedures such as femoral and inguinal hernia repairs, while Liquifix Precision is specifically tailored for performing open femoral and inguinal hernia repairs.
According to Tela Bio, the primary purpose of these products is to reduce the potential for mechanical tissue trauma. They achieve this by eliminating the need to penetrate patient tissue. Consequently, surgeons can attach the mesh with a reduced risk of complications.
