Cognizant To Use Google's Gemini AI Chatbot For Software Development Productivity

Cognizant Technology Solutions Corp. has announced plans to expand its artificial intelligence (AI) partnership with the Google Cloud Platform. The collaboration aims to enhance software development productivity with Google's AI-powered chatbot, Gemini.

Cognizant believes that the adoption of Gemini for Google Cloud will quicken the pace of software development processes. The plan will enable Cognizant's workforce of over 70,000 associates to benefit from Google Cloud's latest AI technologies.

Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, stated that generative AI holds significant potential to enhance every phase of the software delivery lifecycle. It can aid developers in swiftly generating code, troubleshooting issues, and streamlining processes. By having the Cognizant team trained on Gemini for Google Cloud, Cognizant aims to enhance the speed and quality of software development projects for shared customers.

Cognizant will incorporate Gemini for Google Cloud in two specific ways. Firstly, Cognizant's team will be trained on how to use Gemini for software development support. Secondly, the company plans to integrate Gemini's advanced capabilities into its own internal operations and platforms.

Cognizant's developers will utilize Gemini for Google Cloud to write, test, and deploy code in a faster and more efficient manner. This implementation is expected to enhance the reliability and cost efficiency of building and managing client applications.

Over the next year, Cognizant intends to invest in training its associates on Google Cloud's AI offerings, in alignment with its Synapse initiative. This initiative aims to upskill one million individuals worldwide by 2026.

There are also plans to integrate Gemini into Cognizant's automated platforms and accelerators. This will start with the recently announced Flowsource platform for developers

According to a study conducted by Cognizant and Oxford Economics, generative AI might contribute up to $1 trillion to the U.S. economy by 2032.

Cognizant and Google Cloud anticipate that using Gemini will yield a variety of benefits to enterprise clients across different industries. The software could help clients build applications more quickly, rigorously test code, and quickly remediate issues.

Cognizant made a commitment to invest $1 billion in generative AI over the next three years, seeing it as a potent tool to augment human potential. The firm first announced its significant generative AI partnership with Google Cloud in May 2023, which was expanded further in August 2023 to develop healthcare large language model solutions.
