Swiss Market Ends Slightly Weak

On Monday, Swiss stocks remained weak throughout the trading session as investors exercised caution due to a lack of catalysts. The benchmark Swiss Market Index (SMI) closed down by 14.94 points or 0.13% at 11,637.05. The day's fluctuations were minimal, ranging between 11,583.39 and 11,640.86.

Among the companies that recorded losses were Swiss Life Holding, ABB, and Sonova, which decreased by 2.56%, 2.34%, and 2.1% respectively. Other companies that experienced a downturn include Partners Group, which fell by 1.7%, and Geberit, Sika, and Givaudan, which saw declines ranging from 0.9 to 1.1%. Lonza Group also slipped by 0.72%.

There were some winners during the trading day too. UBS Group saw a 1.36% gain. Other gainers included Logitech International, Swisscom, Nestle, Richemont, and Holcim, which all ended the day's session higher by 0.3 to 0.5%.

Turning to the Mid Price Index, both Barry Callebaut and Straumann Holding lost 2.5% and 2.4% respectively. In addition, Baloise Holding, Georg Fischer, and BKW each shed between 1.7 and 1.83%, while Belimo Holding and Tecan Group both experienced declines, plummeting 1.53% and 1.08% respectively.

However, on the positive side, Meyer Burger Tech soared impressively with a 21.4% increase in its share price. ams OSRAM AG, and Flughafen Zurich also saw some gains, both rising by around 2%. Other companies to record gains included SIG Group and Galenica Sante, which ended the session higher by 1.63% and 1.29% respectively.
