CAC 40 Dips In Cautious Trade Ahead Of Inflation Data

On Wednesday, French stocks saw a marginal decline in a wary trading environment. Investors are in anticipation of further indicators from U.S. inflation data, along with a speech from Jerome Powell, the Fed Chair, scheduled for Friday.

The dollar sustained its strong position on expectations that the Federal Reserve's favored measure of core U.S. inflation likely continued to be alarmingly high in February.

Powell is set to give a speech at a conference hosted by the San Francisco Fed.

Closer to home, markets are looking forward to March's data on consumer and economic sentiment in the eurozone later in the day.

Eurozone government bonds experienced a slight decline before the release of Spanish inflation data, expected to be made public later in the day.

Friday will witness the publication of inflation figures from France and Italy, while German and euro area-wide data is set to be released next week.

After a rise of 0.4 percent on Tuesday, the flagship CAC 40 indicator was down 9 points, equating to a 0.1 percent drop, standing at 8,175.
