Genuine Parts Co. (GPC) announced a leadership change with Paul Donahue transitioning from his roles as chairman and CEO to executive chairman as of June 3, 2024. William Stengel II, currently serving as the company's president and chief operating officer, is set to succeed Donahue as the president and CEO of GPC and will also join the board of directors.
Stengel came onboard GPC in 2019, assuming the role of executive vice president and chief transformation officer, bringing with him nearly 20 years of substantial leadership and professional experience. He was promoted to be the company's eighth president in its history in 2021, and his role was later expanded to include the duties of the president and chief operating officer in 2023.
Before joining GPC, Stengel held various prominent executive leadership roles at HD Supply, including the presidency and chief executive officer of HD Supply Facilities Maintenance. He also served at The Home Depot and took on various investment banking roles.
