U.S. Employment Climbs Much Less Than Expected In April

After several months of surprisingly strong job growth, a recent report from the Labor Department reveals that job increase in April fell below predictions in the United States.

The Department reported that non-agricultural employment rose by 175,000 jobs in April. This increase is significantly lower than the surge of 315,000 jobs in March, an upwards revised figure.

Economists had predicted a jump of 243,000 jobs, a contrast to the original report of a 303,000 job increase in the preceding month.

Additionally, the report revealed a minor increase in unemployment rates. It rose to 3.9 percent in April, up from 3.8 percent in March. Contrary to the observed rise, it was expected that the unemployment rate would remain unchanged.
