Finland Jobless Rate Rises To 9.5%, Highest In 35 Months

Statistics Finland reported on Wednesday that Finland's unemployment rate saw a further increase in April, reaching its highest level in nearly three years.

The unemployment rate for individuals aged 15-64 rose to 9.5% in April, up from 9.2% in March. This marks the highest jobless rate since May 2021, when it stood at 10.5%. In April of the previous year, the unemployment rate was 8.0%.

The total number of unemployed individuals increased to 260,000 in April, compared to 251,000 in March.

However, the youth unemployment rate, for those aged 15-24, showed improvement, decreasing to 24.7% in April from 26.0% in March.

For the broader 15-74 age group, the trend unemployment rate in April was 9.2%.

Meanwhile, the employment rate rose to 71.7% in April, up from 71.0% in the preceding month.
