European Economic News Preview: German Inflation, Consumer Confidence Data Due

Key economic indicators and reports are set to be released on Wednesday, with a focus on inflation and consumer confidence in Germany, as well as monetary aggregates from the euro area.

At 2:00 AM ET, the market research group GfK will publish the results of Germany's consumer confidence survey. Projections suggest an improvement in the confidence index to -22.5 for June, up from -24.2 in May.

At 2:45 AM ET, France's statistical office, INSEE, will release its consumer sentiment survey. Economists anticipate a rise in the consumer sentiment index to 91 in May, compared to 90 in April.

Following this, at 3:00 AM ET, Spain's INE will announce retail sales data for April. The previous month saw a 0.6% annual increase in retail sales for March.

At 4:00 AM ET, the European Central Bank will release April's euro area monetary aggregates. Economists expect the M3 money supply to increase by 1.3% year-on-year, compared to a 0.9% rise in March.

Additionally, Italy's business and consumer sentiment survey results will be disclosed, along with preliminary inflation data from Poland.

At 8:00 AM ET, Germany's statistical office will report the flash estimates for consumer and harmonized prices for May. Consumer price inflation is forecasted to rise to 2.4% from 2.2% in April. Meanwhile, EU harmonized inflation is expected to increase to 2.7%, up from 2.4% in the prior month.
