Australia Building Approval Data Due On Thursday

On Thursday, Australia will release preliminary figures for building approvals for April, marking a relatively quiet day for economic activity in the Asia-Pacific region. In March, building approvals increased by 1.9 percent month-over-month but declined by 2.5 percent year-over-year.

Australia will also publish data for capital expenditures for Q1. In the previous quarter, building capital expenditures rose by 1.5 percent, while machinery capital expenditures fell by 0.1 percent.

New Zealand is set to provide building consents data for April, following a 0.2 percent decline in consents in March.

Taiwan is expected to announce its Q1 GDP figures, with forecasts indicating a year-over-year growth of 6.51 percent, up from 4.93 percent in the preceding quarter.

Thailand will release data for imports, exports, and trade balance for April. In March, imports increased by 5.6 percent, exports decreased by 10.9 percent, resulting in a trade deficit of $1.160 billion.
