Producer prices in Japan saw a 0.7 percent increase in May compared to the previous month, according to a report from the Bank of Japan released on Wednesday. This rise surpassed the anticipated 0.4 percent growth and followed an upwardly revised increase of 0.5 percent in April, initially reported as 0.3 percent.
On an annual basis, producer prices surged by 2.4 percent, exceeding the projected 2.0 percent and accelerating from the previous month's upwardly revised 1.1 percent increase, which was originally noted as 0.9 percent.
Additionally, the export price index recorded a 0.1 percent month-to-month rise, while the import price index saw a growth of 0.9 percent, as reported by the bank.
