Italy's unemployment rate recorded a new low in the first quarter of 2024, as reported by the statistical office Istat on Thursday.
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 7.2 percent in the first quarter, down from 7.4 percent in the preceding quarter. This marks the lowest rate since the final quarter of 2008.
In the same period last year, the unemployment rate was 7.9 percent.
Conversely, the inactivity rate for individuals aged 15-64 edged up slightly to 33.1 percent from 33.0 percent.
Additionally, data indicated that the employment rate rose to 62.0 percent, compared to 61.9 percent in the previous quarter.
