In a recent YouTube interview with Kane Sutter, Meta (META) CEO Mark Zuckerberg shared insights on AI technology and his company's AI strategy.
Speaking on the YouTube channel Kallaway, Zuckerberg emphasized the importance of open-source AI models, arguing against the monopolization of AI technology.
"I find it a pretty big turnoff when people in the tech industry kind of talk about building this one true AI," Zuckerberg remarked. "It's almost as if they kind of think they're creating God or something."
Zuckerberg's comments appear directed towards certain AI professionals who elevate AI to a quasi-divine status. For instance, an anonymous AI worker told Vanity Fair in September, "We're creating God," as reported by Business Insider.
"The future is not going to be just one AI," he continued. "It's going to be a multitude of AIs, with many different people creating diverse innovations."
Expanding on this idea, Zuckerberg mentioned that Meta aims to integrate a variety of AI systems.
"Our overall view is that this isn't the type of thing where there should be just one," he said. "People want to interact with numerous individuals and businesses, and there needs to be a wide range of AIs reflecting people's varied interests."
