Altair (ALTR) revealed on Monday that it has finalized an agreement to acquire Metrics Design Automation Inc., a Canadian enterprise known for its innovative simulation-as-a-service (SaaS) model, aimed at semiconductor electronic functional simulation and design verification.
While specific financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed, it is noted that the transaction will close pending customary conditions.
The integration of Metrics' digital simulator, DSim, with Altair's Silicon Debug Tools is poised to establish a premier simulation environment, offering both advanced simulation and superior debugging capabilities within the EDA and semiconductor sectors.
This combined solution from Altair and Metrics boasts remarkable flexibility, allowing users to operate it as a desktop application, on private servers, or via cloud platforms. It supports executing extensive regressions with a cost-efficient approach, as customers only pay for their usage.
DSim will be accessible through Altair One, the company's cloud innovation portal, where it will also be available for desktop download.
