The United Kingdom's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) announced on Tuesday the initiation of an investigation into Microsoft Corp. (MSFT). This probe focuses on Microsoft's hiring of former employees of Inflection AI, Inc. and the establishment of associated agreements with Inflection.
The CMA aims to determine whether Microsoft's recruitment of these employees and its related arrangements with Inflection constitute a relevant merger situation under the provisions of the Enterprise Act 2002.
Should this be the case, the CMA will assess whether this situation has led, or could potentially lead, to a significant reduction in competition within any U.K. market, affecting goods or services.
