BHP Q4 Total Iron Ore Production Increases

BHP Group (BHP.AX, BLT.L, BBL, BHP) announced a rise in its total iron ore production for the fourth quarter, reaching 69.21 million tonnes, up from 65.30 million tonnes compared to the same period last year.

In particular, Western Australia Iron Ore (WAIO) output for the quarter surged to 68.17 million tonnes, an increase from 64.07 million tonnes reported in the prior year. When considering a 100% basis, WAIO production climbed to 76.77 million tonnes, up from 72.72 million tonnes the previous year.

The company clarified that these figures were based on wet tonnes.

Looking ahead, BHP projects its total iron ore production for fiscal year 2025 to range between 250 million and 260 million tonnes. On a 100% basis, this equates to a range of 282 million to 294 million tonnes.

Additionally, the firm's total copper production for fiscal year 2024 rose by 9%, reaching 1.865 million tonnes. For fiscal year 2025, copper production is anticipated to fall between 1.845 million and 2.045 million tonnes.
