Delta Air Reportedly Expects CrowdStrike-Microsoft Outage To Cost $500 Mln

Delta Air Lines Inc. (DAL) faces a significant financial setback due to the extensive CrowdStrike-Microsoft outage earlier this month, with CEO Ed Bastian estimating the cost at $500 million, according to a report from CNBC.

The outage led to the cancellation of over 5,000 flights and disrupted the airline's internal system responsible for coordinating flight crews with planes. To mitigate the damages, the company had to manually reset 40,000 servers.

In response to the outage, Delta Air Lines has engaged the law firm of renowned attorney David Boies to pursue compensation from CrowdStrike and Microsoft.

"We must safeguard our shareholders, customers, and employees from not only the financial losses but also the impact on our brand and reputation," Bastian emphasized.

At present, Delta Air Lines' stock is trading at $43.50 on the New York Stock Exchange, reflecting a 0.60 percent increase.
