Italy's industrial production experienced its second consecutive month of growth in June, according to data released by the statistical office ISTAT on Friday.
Industrial output saw a 0.5 percent increase month-on-month in June, consistent with the previous month's rise. This surpassed economists' expectations, who had predicted that production would remain unchanged.
The growth in June was primarily fueled by a 2.0 percent increase in capital goods production. However, the consumer goods sector saw a decline, with production falling by 1.4 percent. Specifically, consumer goods production overall was down by 0.3 percent.
On an annual basis, the decline in industrial production moderated slightly to 2.6 percent, compared to a 3.3 percent decrease in May. This decline was observed across all subsectors, with the exception of the energy sector.
