According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, average household spending in Japan increased by a seasonally adjusted 0.1 percent in June, reaching 280,888 yen.
This rise fell short of the anticipated 0.2 percent growth after experiencing a 0.3 percent decline in May.
On an annual basis, household spending decreased 1.4 percent, underperforming forecasts which predicted a 0.9 percent decline, following a 1.8 percent drop in the previous month.
The average monthly income per household was recorded at 957,457 yen, marking a 3.1 percent increase year-over-year.
