The Czech Republic witnessed a sharp increase in industrial producer prices, reaching levels not seen in nearly a year, according to recent data from the Czech Statistical Office released on Friday.
The Industrial Producer Price Index (PPI) saw a year-on-year rise of 1.7 percent in July, following a 1.0 percent increase in the previous month. Remarkably, this is the highest rate of increase since October 2023, when prices escalated by 1.8 percent.
Breaking down the main industrial groupings, prices for energy goods surged the most, with a 4.2 percent increase from the previous year. Capital goods also saw a notable rise, becoming 3.8 percent more expensive. Conversely, the prices for intermediate goods fell by 1.2 percent.
On a month-to-month basis, producer prices climbed by 0.6 percent in July, despite expectations for a 0.1 percent decline.
