Cathay Pacific Begins A350 Fleet Inspection Following Engine Failure Incident

Cathay Pacific Airways has commenced thorough inspections of all its Airbus A350 aircraft following an in-flight engine component failure on flight CX383 bound for Zurich earlier this week. This incident represents the first recorded failure of this specific engine component on any A350 aircraft globally.

The airline has promptly informed the aircraft and engine manufacturers, as well as regulatory bodies, of the issue. As a preventive measure, Cathay Pacific has initiated a comprehensive inspection of its fleet of 48 A350 aircraft. This extensive evaluation is anticipated to conclude by the end of the day. To date, several engine components similar to the one that failed have been identified for replacement; necessary spare parts have been secured and repairs are already underway.

Due to these inspections and subsequent repairs, several aircraft will be temporarily out of service, affecting the airline's operating schedules. Consequently, Cathay Pacific has cancelled 24 return flights up to the end of Tuesday. Affected customers have been notified and provided with alternative travel arrangements. The airline has assured that it will provide another update regarding any further cancellations as soon as possible tomorrow.
