Boeing Projects Africa's Commercial Airplane Fleet To More Than Double By 2043

Boeing's 2024 Commercial Market Outlook anticipates that Africa's commercial airplane fleet will more than double by 2043. The forecast, which assesses long-term demand for commercial airplanes and services, indicates that deliveries of over 800 new single-aisle jets will primarily drive this expansion.

According to the Outlook, passenger air traffic in Africa is projected to grow at an annual rate of 6.4%, resulting in a more than threefold increase by 2043. This positions Africa as the third fastest-growing region in terms of air traffic among the ten regions monitored by Boeing.

"As air travel demand rises, African airlines will require more single-aisle airplanes to efficiently service a variety of routes within the continent's largest aviation markets, including those in Europe, the Middle East, and within Africa," stated Shahab Matin, Boeing's Managing Director of Commercial Marketing for the Middle East and Africa. "This growth will build on Boeing's nearly eight decades of partnership with African carriers, with over 60 airlines currently operating around 500 Boeing airplanes."
