Schlumberger (SLB) announced its ongoing collaboration with NVIDIA to create generative AI solutions tailored for the energy sector. This partnership focuses on building and optimizing AI models to meet the unique demands of the data-intensive energy industry, including areas such as subsurface exploration, production operations, and data management.
By utilizing NVIDIA's NeMo, a component of the NVIDIA AI Enterprise software platform, SLB aims to accelerate the development and deployment of industry-specific generative AI foundation models on its global platforms.
The collaboration between SLB and NVIDIA dates back to 2008, when they began using graphics processing units (GPUs) for subsurface imaging and geoscience interpretation.
