On Thursday, Polaris Inc. (PII) issued a recall for the 2024 Ranger XD 1500 and Ranger Crew XD 1500 models due to a potential fire risk associated with overheating winch wiring.
The recall impacts approximately 10,500 Recreational Off-Road Vehicles (ROVs) and 1,336 winches, including about 660 ROVs sold in Canada.
Specifically, the recall targets certain Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) of the 2024 Ranger XD 1500 and Ranger Crew XD 1500 models, available in camouflage, red, and silver.
Additionally, the recall involves 4,500 lb. and 6,000 lb. winches sold separately as accessories through Polaris dealers between February 2023 and August 2024, with prices ranging from $40,000 to $50,500.
Consumers are advised to cease using the affected winches immediately and contact an authorized Polaris dealer for a complimentary repair to ensure a proper winch ground connection. Polaris is proactively reaching out to registered owners to address this safety concern.
