Japan Interest Rate Decision Due On Friday

The Bank of Japan is set to conclude its monetary policy meeting on Friday, with a subsequent announcement regarding interest rates, marking a relatively quiet day for Asia-Pacific economic news. It is widely anticipated that the BoJ will maintain its benchmark lending rate at 0.25 percent.

Japan is also expected to release its August consumer price figures. For reference, in July, overall inflation increased by 0.2 percent month-on-month and by 2.8 percent year-on-year. The core Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose by 2.7 percent annually.

Hong Kong is due to publish its consumer price data for August. In July, overall inflation rates saw a rise of 1.0 percent month-on-month and 2.5 percent year-on-year.

New Zealand will be releasing its August credit card spending data. In July, credit card spending had declined by 3.8 percent year-on-year.
