Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) has partnered with Google Cloud to roll out an AI-powered captioning solution in the U.S., leveraging Google Cloud's Vertex AI platform.
Known internally as "caption AI," this tool will initially target unscripted programming on WBD's streaming service, Max.
"AI holds transformative potential for various processes in the media and entertainment industry, providing significant business impact," stated Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud. "Warner Bros. Discovery's captioning solution is a compelling example of how AI can save organizations both time and money."
The caption AI tool is projected to reduce manual captioning workloads by up to 80 percent and cut associated costs by up to 50 percent.
