Mercer International Inc. (MERC) announced that its Peace River mill has temporarily halted operations to conduct essential repairs on the mill's digester following a mechanical malfunction.
The company anticipates completing these repairs and related assessments by mid-October 2024, predicting a reduction in NBHK production by approximately 45,000 tonnes during this period.
Mercer International highlighted that the Peace River mill is covered by property and business interruption insurance, which is expected to cover both the repair costs and the business interruption.
