In August, Norway witnessed an uptick in its unemployment rate, following a decline in the previous month, as indicated by the labor force survey data released by Statistics Norway on Thursday.
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose to 4.0 percent in August, compared to 3.8 percent in July. A year earlier, in August, the jobless rate stood at 3.6 percent.
The number of unemployed individuals increased to 120,000 in August from 115,000 in July, according to the agency's report.
The data also revealed that the employment rate slightly decreased to 69.5 percent from 69.7 percent in July.
Notably, the trend-based unemployment rate has remained consistent at 4.0 percent for the third consecutive month.
