Italy Consumer Confidence Improves, Business Morale At 5-Month High

Italy experienced a modest rebound in consumer confidence during September, while business confidence reached a five-month high, buoyed by a positive trend in the services sector, according to survey data released by the statistical office Istat on Thursday.

Consumer sentiment rose to 98.3 in September, recovering from a three-month low of 96.1 in August.

Breaking down the components, the economic climate index improved to 103.9 in September, up from 102.3 in August. The personal climate index also saw an increase, rising to 96.3 from 93.8, and the future climate index edged up to 97.4 from 95.7. Likewise, the current climate index showed growth, moving to 97.4 from 95.7.

Additionally, the composite confidence index increased to 95.7 in September from 94.7 in August. This rise was predominantly attributed to positive trends in services, notably within the transport and storage sectors.

The index for market services climbed to 100.6 from 98.0. In contrast, industrial confidence, encompassing the manufacturing and construction sectors, experienced a minor decline as the index decreased from 86.7 to 87.0.
