Microsoft Rolls Out Windows 11 Update For 2024

Microsoft (MSFT) is gradually deploying its latest Windows 11 update for 2024, known as version 24H2.

"This update is a comprehensive operating system overhaul that incorporates new foundational elements necessary for delivering transformative AI experiences and superior performance," stated John Cable, Microsoft VP of Windows Servicing and Delivery.

"The Windows 11 2024 Update continues our annual feature update schedule, with new features released in the latter half of the calendar year. This version resets the 24-month support period for both Home and Pro editions."

Key features of the annual update include a revamped File Explorer, a "sudo" command for privilege elevation in standard console sessions, new tools for IT teams, and enhanced security updates.

Additionally, the update introduces a scrollable view for quick settings, Wi-Fi 7 support, QR code-based Wi-Fi sharing, a customized energy-saver mode, improved hearing aid support, updates to Microsoft Teams, Lock Screen enhancements, and new Copilot AI functionalities.

Windows search improvements feature better natural language comprehension and a super-resolution capability to enhance low-resolution photos.

A notable new feature is "Click to Do," designed to "streamline your workflow by overlaying an interactive interface on your PC screen, allowing suggested quick actions to appear over images or text."

In May, the Windows 11 24H2 update was initially made available to enterprise customers participating in the Release Preview Channel of the Windows Insider Program for Business.
