Supermicro, Fujitsu To Develop Green AI Computing, Liquid-cooled Datacenter Solutions

Super Micro Computer Inc. (SMCI) has announced a strategic collaboration with Fujitsu Limited (FJTSY.PK) aimed at advancing environmentally friendly AI computing technologies and developing liquid-cooled data center solutions. This partnership will see Supermicro develop and commercialize a platform using Fujitsu's upcoming Fujitsu-Monaka processor, which is ARM-based and optimized for high performance combined with energy efficiency, slated for a 2027 release. The collaboration will also focus on creating liquid-cooled systems tailored for high-performance computing (HPC), generative AI, and next-generation sustainable data centers.

Supermicro's CEO, Charles Liang, highlighted the partnership's emphasis on energy-efficient designs, noting their collective goal to reduce technology's environmental footprint through innovations like liquid cooling rack-scale PnP (Plug and Play) systems. Fujitsu and Supermicro will leverage their expertise to enhance rack-scale liquid cooling solutions, addressing the surging demand from data centers globally.

By incorporating the Fujitsu-Monaka processor, the collaboration aims to achieve a balance of superior performance and energy efficiency, while ensuring high reliability, robust security, and user-friendly interfaces that support the establishment of green AI infrastructure. The groundbreaking Fujitsu-Monaka processor is based on the Arm instruction set architecture and employs state-of-the-art 2-nanometer technology.
