Deutsche Lufthansa AG, the prominent German airline, has announced plans to resume select flights to the Middle East, while opting to avoid Iranian and Iraqi airspace as a safety precaution amid ongoing regional tensions. This decision will remain in effect until further notice.
For departures and arrivals to Erbil, flights will utilize a designated corridor through Iraqi airspace. Despite this temporary change, the airline will refrain from using Israeli airspace until October 31, whereas flights through Jordanian airspace will recommence from October 3.
Lufthansa has confirmed that services to Erbil and Amman will resume as of October 3. Meanwhile, flights to and from Tel Aviv are suspended up to October 31, and routes to and from Beirut will remain on hold until November 30.
Additionally, flights to Tehran will stay canceled until October 14. The airline has already extended the suspension of services to Tehran until October 26, citing operational reasons.
Lufthansa is closely monitoring the situation and plans to reassess conditions in the coming days. Passengers impacted by these changes have the option to rebook for a later date at no additional cost or request a full refund for their tickets.
