Finland Trade Gap Widens In August

In August, Finland experienced a notable increase in its foreign trade deficit compared to the same period last year, as reported by the Finnish Customs' preliminary data on Tuesday. The trade deficit expanded to €295 million, a significant rise from €57 million recorded in August of the previous year.

The decline in exports was more pronounced than that of imports, with export values dropping by 8.2% year-on-year for August, while imports saw a decrease of 4.7%. Specifically, exports to EU member countries decreased by 4.7% during this period, whereas imports from these nations fell by 2.7%.

In terms of trade with non-EU countries, exports experienced a sharper decline of 12.9%, accompanied by a 6.3% reduction in imports from those regions.
