Walmart has announced significant expansions to its core pet care services, enhancing access to affordable in-person and virtual veterinary care, pet prescription delivery, grooming services, as well as pet food and supplies. These expansions aim to provide a seamless and convenient experience for pet owners.
The retail giant noted that the pet sector remains one of the most active in the market, with an anticipated annual spending increase of 7% by 2030. Additionally, household spending per pet is expected to climb to $1,445 by 2026.
Veterinary services are now the second-largest category in pet-related expenditures, following consumables, and are predicted to continue growing as pet owners increasingly focus on their pets' health and wellbeing.
"Walmart recognizes that pets are family, and we are proud to be a reliable destination for pet parents," stated Kaitlyn Shadiow, Vice President of Merchandising, Pets, Walmart U.S. "Whether shopping in-store or online, Walmart provides a unique omnichannel experience and a comprehensive range of offerings—from products and prescriptions to services—at our Every Day Low Prices, making pet care both affordable and convenient."
