Rio Tinto and Arcadium Lithium plc have entered into a definitive agreement in which Rio Tinto will acquire Arcadium in an all-cash transaction valued at $5.85 per share. This acquisition places Arcadium's total share capital at an estimated $6.7 billion.
Arcadium is a producer of lithium chemicals, operating in a vertically integrated structure. Its current annual production capacity for various products, including lithium hydroxide and lithium carbonate, is equivalent to 75,000 tonnes of lithium carbonate. Arcadium’s international operations span approximately 2,400 employees, with facilities and projects located in Argentina, Australia, Canada, China, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
