Irish Manufacturing Production Surges 15.6%

Preliminary data released by the Central Statistics Office on Wednesday indicates that Ireland's manufacturing output continued its upward trend for the second consecutive month in August, with a noticeable acceleration in growth. Manufacturing output recorded a seasonally adjusted annual increase of 15.6% in August, building on a robust 11.3% rebound witnessed in July.

On a monthly scale, the manufacturing sector's output rose by 3.5%, improving from a 0.8% rise noted in the previous month.

Industrial production saw a yearly increase of 12.0% in August, surpassing the 9.1% uptick reported the month before. Month-on-month, industrial output grew by 4.5% in August, though this was slightly lower than the 7.5% growth experienced in July.

However, for the quarter stretching from June to August, there was a 2.6% decrease in production across the manufacturing industries compared to the previous three-month span. This decline was attributed to varying performances between the highly globalized modern sector and the traditional sector.

The modern sector, encompassing industries such as chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and electronics, experienced a 2.4% decline in industrial production compared to the same period last year. Conversely, the traditional sector posted a 6.9% increase in production.
