Mercedes-Benz Sold 594,600 Cars And Vans In Q3, Down 3%

Mercedes-Benz Group reported on Thursday that it delivered 594,600 vehicles, including cars and vans, during the third quarter, despite facing challenging market conditions.

The company noted that passenger car sales increased compared to the previous quarter, primarily due to enhanced product availability. However, a decline in demand, particularly in the Asian market, dampened overall sales performance.

Mercedes-Benz Vans encountered a softer market environment during the third quarter, particularly in its key markets of Germany, the United States, and China. Nonetheless, sales performance in Europe, excluding Germany, remained robust.

"Mercedes-Benz achieved sales of over 500,000 cars from July to September, marking a slight increase compared to the second quarter and aligning with results from the same period last year. Offering desirable products is the key strategy as consumer demand diminishes in several critical markets," stated Britta Seeger, Member of the Board of Management at Mercedes-Benz Group AG.

Sales of Mercedes-Benz Cars in the third quarter saw a 1% increase over the previous quarter, reaching 503,600 units, maintaining the level of the previous year. Despite improved product availability, weakened macroeconomic conditions, particularly in Asia, impacted sales.

The market environment for battery electric vehicles (BEV) remained subdued amid competitive pricing in significant markets. However, sales of plug-in hybrids experienced a 10% increase globally during the third quarter, largely driven by the U.S. market.
