Dominion Energy Virginia and Amazon have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to jointly investigate new development frameworks aimed at advancing Small Modular Reactor (SMR) nuclear projects in Virginia. This MOU outlines the collaborative efforts of both companies to explore avenues for SMR advancement and financing while minimizing potential costs and development risks for both customers and investors. The collaboration will focus on examining commercial and financial structures to support a prospective project.
"This agreement is a testament to our enduring partnership with Amazon and other leading technology companies to expedite the creation of carbon-free energy solutions in Virginia," stated Robert Blue, Chair, President, and CEO of Dominion Energy.
Earlier in July, Dominion Energy issued a Request for Proposals from top SMR nuclear technology firms to assess the feasibility of developing an SMR at their North Anna Power Station located in Louisa County, Virginia.
