The Walt Disney Company (DIS) Board has appointed James Gorman as the new Chairman of the Board, with his tenure commencing on January 2, 2025. He is set to follow Mark Parker, who will be stepping down from the Disney Board on the same date. Gorman presently serves as Executive Chairman of Morgan Stanley and is the Chair of Disney Board’s Succession Planning Committee.
Gorman stated, "Our immediate priority is to appoint a new CEO, an announcement we anticipate making in early 2026. This timeline is indicative of the progress being achieved by both the Succession Planning Committee and the Board, ensuring a smooth transition before Bob Iger's contract ends in December 2026."
