Danish Consumers More Pessimistic In October

Statistics Denmark reported on Wednesday that consumer sentiment in Denmark took a downturn in October. The consumer confidence index decreased to -8.9, compared to -6.8 in September.

This decline was largely attributed to consumers' perceptions of their current and prospective financial status. The survey indicated that outlooks on personal finances over the coming year became more pessimistic, with the index dropping to -1.0 from September's 2.9. Similarly, opinions on past financial situations deteriorated, with the index falling to -8.9 from the previous -4.2.

Conversely, the assessment of the country's general economic outlook for the next year improved slightly, with the index climbing to -8.5, up from -9.5 the previous month.

Furthermore, the survey noted that households anticipate a quicker increase in prices over the next year, and foresee a rising trend in unemployment.
