South Korea is scheduled to announce preliminary data for the third quarter gross domestic product (GDP) on Thursday, marking a relatively quiet day for economic updates across the Asia-Pacific region. Economists anticipate a GDP growth of 0.5% for the quarter and 2.0% on an annual basis. This follows a 0.2% quarterly decline and a 2.3% year-on-year increase reported in the preceding quarter.
Australia is set to receive initial figures for the October Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) for both manufacturing and services from Judo Bank. For comparison, September's figures were 46.7 for manufacturing and 50.5 for services.
Japan will also release preliminary October figures for its manufacturing and services PMIs from Jibun Bank, with September results recorded at 49.7 and 53.1, respectively.
Malaysia is expected to present its consumer price index (CPI) data for September, following a 0.1% monthly rise and a 1.9% annual increase in August.
Taiwan will disclose its unemployment statistics for September, noting that the jobless rate was 3.36% in August.
