In October, Japan witnessed a decline in consumer sentiment, reaching its lowest point in five months, as reported by the Cabinet Office on Wednesday. The seasonally adjusted consumer confidence index fell to 36.2, down from 36.9 in September, contrary to economists' expectations of a slight decrease to 36.7. The data is derived from a survey conducted on October 15, involving 8,400 households. Notably, the willingness to purchase durable goods index saw a decline of 1.3 points, settling at 29.7, while the sub-index for income growth decreased to 39.4 from its previous 40.1. Additionally, the index related to overall livelihood experienced a slight decrease to 34.2 from 34.4, and the employment index dropped to 41.6 from 42.2.
