Switzerland witnessed further growth in its industrial production during the third quarter, according to provisional figures released by the Federal Statistical Office on Monday.
Year-over-year, industrial output saw a 3.5 percent increase for the third quarter, marking a deceleration from the robustly revised 7.0 percent growth seen in the second quarter.
Within the manufacturing sector, output increased by 2.0 percent compared to the previous year, a slowdown from the 6.5 percent rise recorded in the last quarter.
The electricity supply sector experienced a notable expansion, registering a 20.2 percent increase. In contrast, the mining and quarrying segment saw a decrease of 4.1 percent in production.
The secondary sector, which encompasses both industrial and construction activities, exhibited a slower annual growth rate of 3.3 percent in the September quarter, compared to the 6.0 percent increase in the previous quarter.
Construction output specifically rose by 2.1 percent over the past year, building on a slight rebound of 0.1 percent in the second quarter.
In September alone, industrial production experienced a 0.9 percent decline compared to the previous year, following a 3.0 percent decrease in August.
