Japan recorded a merchandise trade deficit of 461.2 billion yen in October, as reported by the Ministry of Finance on Wednesday. This figure fell short of the anticipated deficit of 360.4 billion yen and followed the upward revision of September's deficit to 294.1 billion yen.
Exports experienced a 3.1% year-on-year increase, amounting to 9.426 trillion yen, surpassing the expected growth rate of 2.2% after the previous month's 1.7% decrease. Meanwhile, imports grew by 0.4% year-on-year to reach 9.887 trillion yen, contrary to predictions of a 0.3% decline, following a 1.8% rise in the prior month.
