Comcast (CMCSA) is planning to separate its NBCUniversal cable TV networks, potentially leading to an independent entity comprising channels such as MSNBC and USA. These networks collectively reported approximately $7 billion in revenue over the 12 months ending September 30, according to sources familiar with the situation, as cited in media reports.
This strategic move, projected to take around a year to complete, aims to streamline the conglomerate's operations and position NBCUniversal's remaining assets for enhanced growth opportunities. Mark Lazarus, currently serving as the chairman of NBCUniversal Media Group, is anticipated to become the CEO of the newly formed company.
