Retail sales in New Zealand exhibited a slight decline in the third quarter of 2024, with the total volume dropping by a seasonally adjusted 0.1 percent from the previous quarter, according to Statistics New Zealand. The total volume amounted to NZ$24 billion. The value of seasonally adjusted retail sales decreased by 0.7 percent to NZ$30 billion, a reduction of NZ$209 million from the previous quarter.
The actual value of retail sales was recorded at NZ$28 billion, marking a 2.8 percent decrease (equating to NZ$829 million) compared to the September 2023 quarter. On an annual basis, the retail sales volume fell by 2.5 percent, following a 3.6 percent decrease in the previous three-month period.
