The Commerce Department released a report on Wednesday indicating that new orders for U.S. manufactured durable goods saw a smaller increase than anticipated in October. According to the report, durable goods orders rose by 0.2 percent in October, following a revised decrease of 0.4 percent in September. Economists had predicted an increase of 0.5 percent, differing from the originally reported 0.7 percent decline for the previous month. When excluding transportation equipment, durable goods orders slightly increased by 0.1 percent in October, following a 0.4 percent rise in September. This was below the expected 0.2 percent increase for ex-transportation orders.
