Starbucks Opens New Outlet In South Korea With Views Of North Korea

Starbucks (SBUX), the globally recognized coffee retail giant, has inaugurated a new outlet in close proximity to the South Korean border, providing patrons with the distinctive experience of savoring their coffee while overlooking the highly fortified boundary with North Korea.

As of Friday, November 29, the new Starbucks location is now operational in Aegibong Peace Ecopark, situated in Gimpo, South Korea. This venue allows guests to enjoy panoramic views of North Korea's Songaksan Mountain and the adjacent village in Kaephung County.

This new establishment lies near the demilitarized zone (DMZ), the buffer that separates the two nations following their division by war, approximately 31 miles northwest of Seoul, as reported by Reuters.

The prolonged conflict between South and North Korea culminated in an armistice in 1953, although a formal peace treaty remains unsigned to this day.

Visitors heading to the Starbucks must navigate a military checkpoint on their journey, although this location is situated in a less renowned and less fortified area compared to other popular tourist attractions along the border, such as the Panmunjom truce village.
