South Korea Consumer Confidence Index Tumbles In December - BoK

The Composite Consumer Sentiment Index (CCSI) for December registered at 88.4, reflecting a decrease of 12.3 points from the previous month of November.

Sentiments towards current living standards were recorded at 87, showing a decline of four points compared to November. The future outlook for living standards was at 86, marking an eight-point drop from the prior month.

When considering future household income, consumer sentiment was observed at 94, a decline of six points from November. The outlook for income prospects fell to 102, a decrease of seven points from the previous month.

Consumer sentiment concerning present domestic economic conditions was at 52, a substantial drop of 18 points from November. Similarly, the economic outlook was 56, also experiencing an 18-point decline compared to the earlier month.

The anticipated inflation rate for the year ahead is projected at 2.9 percent.
