American Airlines Resumes Operations After Grounding All Flights For Technical Snag

On Tuesday, American Airlines Group Inc. (AAL) resumed its flight operations following a 'technical issue' that had led to the grounding of all its flights, according to a report by CNN.

The airline apologized for the inconvenience caused to its customers on what is considered one of the busiest days of the holiday season. "We are currently facing a technical issue impacting all American Airlines flights," the airline stated on X/Twitter to notify about the problem. "Your safety is our top priority, and once resolved, we'll ensure you reach your destination safely."

"Our team is diligently working to resolve this matter," the airline assured in another statement. "While no specific timeframe for resolution has been provided, efforts are being made to address the issue as swiftly as possible."

Earlier, the Federal Aviation Administration announced in an advisory statement that American Airlines had requested a ground stop for all its flights.

The incident occurred on Christmas Eve, a day on which the FAA estimates approximately 30,000 flights will operate across all carriers in the U.S., as noted by Bloomberg.

During pre-market trading, shares of American Airlines are at $17.15, reflecting a decrease of 0.58 percent on the Nasdaq.
